We Still Teach

We Still Teach is an educational TV Show launched at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic to help bridge the digital divide for students learning at home. Partnering with the Chicago Teachers Union and Fox32/My50, We Still Teach airs original lessons from Chicago teachers for students of all ages.

Responding to the Moment

Creating a children’s television show in 2020 wasn’t an easy task. The We Still Teach team took advantage of the opportunity we had on air to respond to remarkable events that continued to unfold during our two season run. We were able to cover lessons ranging from Social Justice and Civil Rights during the Black Lives Matter protests following the murder of George Floyd to Voting Rights and the Supreme Court in response to the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and the 2020 Presidential Election.

Producing in a Pandemic

Even though we were only a small team of six, the We Still Teach team was able to accomplish so much to help our students learning at home. My duties ranged from watching, reviewing, and programming all lessons submitted by members of CTU to working with community partners to create lessons on gardening, local libraries, and native peoples in Chicago.
